In shopping center or mall, the large numbers of restaurant are grouped in an area called “Restaurant Row”.
Restaurant Row consisted of minimum five restaurant in a row or alley. Its commonly divided into two types, namely an outdoor and indoor restaurant row. Outdoor restaurant row means those located along side of an alley or road, completed with pedestrian walk. It is rarely found of Indonesia because the alley or road condition is not conductive to the weather and it is insecure as well. On the other hand, indoor restaurant rows are to be found everywhere since almost all shoping centers have it in their building.
The grouping of a restaurant row may differ according to the food : traditional, national or the fusion that is, the combination of both. The restaurant are all facing a corridor and the design of each are also grouped based on the type of food they are serving. For Indonesian restaurant, for example, it is common to use traditional architectural ornaments from different cultures where as for international cuisine the design applies modern architecture or architectural elements from countries of origins. Hence, the overall must have an interesting look disregard the difference of each. As such, it is then called Restaurant – Entertainment.
Restaurant in shopping centers or mall are usually small, hence they commonly provide tables and chair on the adjacent corridor to have more customers and these seating are palced according to the floors and ceilling’s pattern, being viewed as integrated interior element. Restaurant Roe also provide seating waiting customers, certainly with other decorative elements such as lamps to attract visitors and make them feel comfortable.
